Association
of Accounting Technicians
The AAT is the world’s largest professional body
for qualified Accounting Technicians. It was founded in 1980 and
currently has over 100,000 Members, Affiliates and Students worldwide.
The AAT not only provides status and recognition of the Accounting
Technician role, but also give Accounting Technicians a route
to qualification with Chartered professional accounting bodies.
The AAT’s Education and Training Scheme is a
flexible programme and involves two types of assessment. Because
it is your competence, which is being assessed, much of the evidence
of this will be obtained from practical activities, which are
assessed by your qualified tutors. This is called Devolved Assessment.
It may include, but not limited to, evidence from your workplace,
or from simulations of real work activities. Its purpose is to
assess your ability to carry out specific tasks and to operate
effectively in the workplace to standards required. The second
type of assessment is Central assessment. This consists of assessments
set and marked by AAT. They are designed primarily to assess your
underpinning knowledge and understanding in certain key areas
of accounting.
