Professional Secretary
The Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) certification
is the recognised capstone of secretarial and administrative support
staff worldwide. Since its inception in 1951, more than 61,000
secretarial and administrative support staff have obtained the
CPS rating. The CPS is administered by the International Association
of Administrative Professionals, the worlds largest professional
organisation for administrative support staff.

Part 1 - Office Systems & Technology: Computer
hardware, systems and Configuration; Document layout, design,
and reproduction; Software; Managing Physical Resources
Part II - Office Administration: Records Management;
and Communication
Part III Management: Human Resource Management;
Accounting Procedures & Analysis; Time Management; Communication
(including legal issues)
Assessment Format
The CPS examinations are offered in May and November of each year.
Each part of the CPS Examination is tested separately. Candidates
are allotted two-hours within which to complete 150-165 multiple-choice
questions, for each part of the exam.
Entry Requirements
If you are applying for the CPS exam as a:
Professional you must be able to verify at lest four years of
work experience as a secretary.
Student you should have a Degree; Associate Degree, along with
two years work experience in the secretarial/administrative field;
Business Educator you must be able to verify your present employment
as a business educator or corporate trainer, spending at lest
50% of your time training administrative personnel and also be
able to verify 12 months of administrative experience.

CPS Programme
1) Is there a cost to register for the CPS?
ANSWER: There is no cost to register with the Institute
for the CPS Programme.
2) Are the examination fees included in the tuition
fee?
ANSWER: The examination fee is not included in the tuition
fee paid to the Institute. The CPS examination fee for 2005
is: US$265. Students will be duly advised of examination
registration deadlines.
3) When can I apply for the CPS?
ANSWER: The institution accepts applications for the CPS
programme from March August annually.
4) When are the CPS exam held?
ANSWER: Each year, the CPS exams are held on the first Friday
and Saturday in May and November. Our programme is intended
to prepare students for the May Examinations.
5) When do classes begin?
ANSWER: Classes generally begin on the second Monday in
August and end in April of the following year. The 2005
programme dates are August 8th, 2005 April 29th, 2006.
6) Are there any financial arrangements in place
to assist students?
ANSWER: The institution offers flexible tuition payment
plans to ease the financial burden on our students. Students
wishing to enter into such arrangements must do so in writing,
outlining a payment schedule. Final approval is at the discretion
of the Principal.
